Ardbeg releases a new 25 Years Old crafted from raw ingredients woven together. To create a whisky distinguished by its exceptional balance, beauty and prestige. The vibrant, hot, peppery mouthfeel leads into a burst of sherbet lemon, hints of carbolic soap and tar, creamy toffee, aniseed, and chili pepper. A long, mellow, lingering finish with lots of cream, fudge, and delicate antiseptic notes.
ABOUT ARDBEG 25 YEAR OLD
The newest, oldest whisky to join our core range. This supreme expression — Ardbeg 25-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky — proves unequivocally that age cannot tame Ardbeg’s smoky power. But it can yield some of the most complex and majestic flavors ever to burst forth from Ardbeg Distillery. Its is now availble at our store certifiedbourbon
Bottled from incredibly rare casks filled during some of the Distillery’s darkest days, this is Ardbeg at its most intricate, balanced, and beguiling.
Majestic aromas of smoked cream and earthy bonfires are masterfully interwoven. With layers of pine and fragrant candle wax. Hot pepper rises on the palate, twisting around lemon sherbet sweetness. While hints of carbolic soap and tar flow into a long aftertaste characterized by delicate aniseed entwined with lingering cream and fudge.
But this Ardbeg, it’s the oldest expression yet to join its permanent range of whiskies. It’s very limited in stock. So it pretty much sold out straight away. People really love their Ardbeg.
ABOUT THE DISTILLERY
Because of this, the distillery is doing batches, and this is first set to arrive after the original. The 2022 release is still just as rare and shiny as a Charizard from 1997, and possibly as fiery. The spirit was distilled during the 1990s, at a time when the brand was only producing a trickle of new make spirit every year, and was then popped into ex-bourbon casks. 25 years on, that’s how Ardbeg has chosen to present its prize expression, and I couldn’t be happier.
I love an ex-bourbon cask, because there’s nowhere to hide. A finish or secondary maturation, or even full-term ageing in an ex-wine barrel, for example, can mask a multitude of sins. With ex-bourbon, everything your spirit is gets put on full display. We’ve had few opportunities to taste what happens to Ardbeg after this length of time. Such a pure, unadulterated display of Ardbeg’s nature is the appeal for me above its status.
